Father Joshua "Demetrios" Makoul

Joshua Michael Makoul was born on September 13, 1972 in Leesburg, Virginia to Thomasand Josephine Makoul. They moved to Allentown in 1973 were Joshua grew up. He graduated from Parkland High School in 1991. He then graduated from Moravian College in 1995 with a BA in Psychology. In 1998, Joshua graduated from Holy Cross Seminary with a Masters in Divinity.

After his graduation at Holy Cross, he pursued studies at Chestnut Hill College and graduated in 2003 with a Masters in Counseling Psychology. Joshua works for the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit as a Mental Health Specialist at Dieruff High School, and also as a therapist at the Center for Integrative Psychotherapy in Allentown, PA.

Joshua’s first step into the rank of clergy was in July of 1997. Bishop Antoun blessed him with the laying on of hands and he became a subdeacon. In February 1999, Joshua was privileged to travel to Mount Athos with V.

Rev. Anthony Sabbagh and friend Alfred Hanna. It was a blessed and memorable trip for him. Joshua guides the Altar Boys of St. George and is involved with Fellowship of St. John the Divine. Joshua Makoul married Tammy Minerva Sabbagh on June 2, 2002, and on May 7, 2004, they were

blessed with a daughter, Marina Grace Makoul. On October 24, 2004,

Bishop Antoun ordained him Deacon Demetrios with his sponsors being

V. Rev. Anthony Sabbagh and Deacon Thomas Underwood. July 6th, 2006 was another wonderful day in the life of Joshua and Tammy. They were blessed with another daughter, Anna Josephine Makoul. On December 17, 2006,

Deacon Joshua “Demetrios” Makoul was elevated to Father Demetrios Makoul by His Grace, Bishop THOMAS.
